You signed up years ago, back when StyleSeat was free. Maybe you left. Maybe a friend told you it costs money now, and it felt like a bait and switch.

Here’s what changed, what it costs today, and what you get for it.

The short answer: StyleSeat is no longer free. There’s one plan: $35 a month, with a promotion currently running at $19. New pros get a 21-day free trial, and New Client Connection, Smart Pricing and booking fees are waived during it.

What happened to the free plan

StyleSeat used to offer a free plan. It’s retired, and new pros can’t sign up for it.

That old plan is where many of the scariest numbers online come from. Some reviews and competitor comparison pages still describe it, with different fees and no $50 cap on the new-client fee. If a number looks worse than what you see in the app, check the date on the page.

What StyleSeat costs now

There’s one price, not a menu.

Subscription: $35 a month. Right now, there’s a promotion at $19 a month.
Free trial: 21 days. New Client Connection, Smart Pricing and booking fees are waived during the trial.
After the trial: it rolls into your subscription unless you cancel at least 48 hours before the trial ends.
Canceling later: give at least 48 hours’ notice before your next billing date. There are no prorated refunds.

What the $35 includes

Here’s what comes with the subscription:

online booking, open 24/7, including through Google,
payments, with Tap to Pay, a card reader, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna,
your profile in StyleSeat’s marketplace,
a client list with notes, photos and history,
client reminders and booking confirmations,
email and text marketing, an automated booking assistant and business analytics,
promotions, a loyalty program, an AI social post builder and review management, and
Smart Waitlists, which offer your canceled slots to the next client.

Text marketing is built in. Every pro starts with 500 free texts, once. After that, it’s 1,500 texts for $10. Reminders and booking confirmations don’t use credits.

A custom booking website is a $10 monthly add-on.

The optional fees on top

A few fees only show up when you use a feature, and you can turn each of them off:

New Client Connection: 30% of a new marketplace client’s first visit, capped at $50, once per client.
Smart Pricing: 5.5% of the service, capped at $16.50, on slots booked at a higher price.
Instant Payout: 1.8%, only when you choose to get paid the same day.

Card processing applies to cards you take through StyleSeat: 2.5% + 30¢ in person, 2.6% + 30¢ for a card on file.

Is it worth $35?

That depends on which pro you are.

If you’re building your book, the marketplace is the point. StyleSeat runs millions a year in ads to send clients to pros. Professionals using New Client Connection averaged $1,904 in first-year revenue from those clients, against $370 in fees.

If your book is full, Smart Pricing is the point. Professionals who use it average $385 a year in extra service revenue, and the top 10% clear $1,000+. StyleSeat’s fee is about $187 of that $385, on average. That leaves roughly $198 in extra service revenue after fees, from hours you’re already working.

What this means for you

There’s no free plan anymore. There’s one plan at $35 a month, with a $19 promotion running now.
The trial is 21 days, with the growth fees waived.
