No matter your hair type, chances are you've battled with keeping your hair looking it's best during the colder months. Whether we're talking about dryness, dullness or static (or all three!) I am here to help your locks become holiday photo ready.
Step One: Protect your hair. How? When you are shlepping around to the grocery store, the gym or simply not in a need to look your best scenario- wear your hair in a braid or a chic topnot to keep moisture in and tangles and static at bay. *Bonus points if you run a treatment oil like Keratherapy Rapid Rescue (best for fine hair) or Keratherapy Argan Oil (best for coarse hair) through beforehand.
Step Two: Hydrate your hair. How? By using more moisture intensive shampoo and conditioner during the winter months. Or adding a weekly hair mask/intensive treatment to your routine. Afraid your fine hair will become weighed down by heavier products? Try alternating Keratherapy Volume Shampoo with Keratherapy Moisture Condtioner *Bonus points if you co-wash (apply the conditioner first to the bottom half of your hair, then apply shampoo to roots and rinse out both at once.)
If you are married to your current shampoo and conditioner try incorporating a weekly treatment like Keratherapy Deep Conditioning Masque into your routine.
Step Three: Seal your hair. How? By having your hair glazed or recieving a keratin treatment.
Glazing your hair will restore & prolong color vibrancy to dull locks. Glazes are nourishing demi-permanent hair colors that can be used to enhance your current hair color (natural or not.) Glazes add a ton of shine to your hair as well as seal down your cuticle, which helps a ton with static and frizz alike.
Keratin Treatments are often thought of as something mainly for the summer months but in actuality can be just as beneficial for the hair during the winter. An express keratin treatment such as Keratherapy Color Lock & Smooth (lasts about a month) or Keratherapy Express Renewal+ (lasts longer) take an hour tops to do in the salon and cost a fraction of what a traditional full keratin treatment would take. These treatments will seal moisture into your hair and protect it from the elements while also cutting down your blow-dry time (and saving your hair further heat damage) making them a perfect choice for hair winterization.
In addition..you may consider washing your hair less frequently in the winter. When you do take those long hot showers we all love so much in the colder months try rinsing your conditioner out with cool water to close the cuticle back down (a key component to shine and color vibrancy.)
