Rent is due Friday. You did eight appointments yesterday, and your bank balance hasn’t moved. So you refresh the app, again, and start wondering where your money is.

Here’s how getting paid on StyleSeat works: the standard payout, the fast one, and what can slow either down.

Standard payouts

Once your bank account is connected, payouts happen on their own. You don’t have to request them.

Timing depends on when the appointment was checked out and on your bank. Weekends and bank holidays add time. Your Payments dashboard shows when money is on the way.

To connect your bank, open the Payments dashboard, select Connect Your Bank and complete the verification.

Instant Payout

Instant Payout moves your money to your debit card the same day. It costs 1.8% of the amount you pay out.

Here are the limits:

• $50.50 minimum and $1,000 maximum per payout,
• one instant payout a day,
• started before 3 p.m. Pacific,
• available after you’ve received your first standard payout, and
• paused for 24 hours after you add or change your bank account.

Is the button grayed out after 3 p.m.? Your money may already be on its way through the standard payout.

What can hold a payout up

Most delays come from one of these:

• bank details that are wrong or out of date,
• a recent change to your bank account,
• identity verification that isn’t finished, which StyleSeat needs to meet payment rules,
• weekends and bank holidays, or
• a hold placed by your own bank.

Check your bank and routing numbers first. If a payout still hasn’t arrived after the normal window, message StyleSeat support in chat with the transaction ID.

Why a payout can be smaller than you expected

A payout is your earnings minus any fees on those appointments. Look for these:

• a New Client Connection fee on a new marketplace client’s first visit,
• a Smart Pricing fee on a higher-priced slot,
• card processing on payments taken through StyleSeat,
• an Instant Payout fee, or
• a refund you issued.

Chargebacks

A chargeback happens when a client disputes a charge with their bank. Here’s how it goes:

1. The client contacts their bank to dispute the charge.
2. StyleSeat lets you know right away and tells you what to send.
3. You submit evidence in the app, under Earnings, then Transactions, then Disputes. Do it before the deadline.
4. The bank reviews it, which often takes 10 to 14 weeks. StyleSeat passes along the bank’s decision.

Good evidence includes proof the service happened, your messages with the client, your cancellation policy, before-and-after photos and signed forms.

How to head off chargebacks

• Tell clients what the charge looks like. It may show on their statement as Stripe, StyleSeat’s payment partner.
• Message before you charge a no-show fee. Save the texts showing you reached out.
• Charge late fees only with a policy in place. If your policy wasn’t active when the client booked, you can’t charge the fee.
• Answer chargeback notices fast. Evidence has a deadline.
