Zolmi Alternatives: Software vs New Clients
Last updated September 3, 2026 · By StyleSeat Editorial Team
It is Sunday night and you have four tabs open. One is $20 a month, less than a bottle of developer, and for a second that feels like the decision made. Then you scroll down: text messages billed per message, card processing with no rate you can find. The clean little number starts to blur.
This is where most people looking at Zolmi alternatives actually are. Not comparing features. Working out whether cheap is smart.
Zolmi is genuinely inexpensive — $20 a month on START and $30 on PRO for one staff member, with texts billed separately from about $0.02 each — and cheap is the right answer only when your calendar is already full. Zolmi lists you free on Belliata, its own marketplace, but publishes no traffic or new-client numbers for it, so there is no way to price what that $20 does for someone who has never heard your name. StyleSeat is $35 a month (currently on promotion for $19/month) and spends millions a year in ads on pros’ behalf.
Short version
- Zolmi is $20 a month on START and $30 on PRO for one staff member, plus $3 or $5 per extra staff. Its card processing rate is not published.
- Texts are billed separately, from about $0.02 a message — two hundred reminders a month is at least $4 on top, about $48 a year.
- The gap between Zolmi’s $20 and StyleSeat’s $35 is $15 a month, or $180 a year. One retained client at a $90 ticket is worth several times that.
- Zolmi’s Belliata marketplace publishes no traffic or new-client figures. StyleSeat’s marketplace draws 74M+ visits a year, and Top Pros using New Client Connection average $9,800 a year in new-client revenue.
Zolmi is $20 to $30 a month, and the texts are billed on top
Zolmi publishes two paid prices for a single operator: START at $20 a month and PRO at $30, with extra staff adding $3 or $5 a month each. A free option is referenced too. These are US figures from zolmi.com; country storefronts differ, so check the one for your market.
Two lines sit outside those numbers. SMS is separate, from about $0.02 a message, so the more you use reminders, the more the bill moves. And the card processing rate is not published, so the largest cost of a busy month is a number you cannot see before you sign up.
The formula: what you save against what one slot is worth
Run this before you switch anything, with your own numbers. Take the monthly price difference and multiply by twelve — your annual saving. Then take your average ticket and multiply by how many times a year a regular sees you — what one client is worth. Set the two side by side.
| What you pay | Zolmi | StyleSeat |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | START $20/month, PRO $30/month, one staff member; +$3/+$5 per extra staff | $35/month, currently running a promotion at $19 |
| Text messages | Separate, from about $0.02 each | 500 text messages included, $10 for additional 1,500 messages |
| Card processing | Not published | 2.5% + $0.30 card present; 2.6% + $0.30 card on file |
| Consumer marketplace | Belliata — free to list, no traffic figures published | Yes — 74M+ visits a year, 2M+ clients searching |
| New-client fee | None — no new-clients delivered | 30% of the first service, capped at $50, once per client |
| Client booking fee | None | $2.35, paid by the client |
The Zolmi alternatives that can send you a client
DaySmart, Meevo, Phorest, Rosy, Zenoti and Mangomint run no consumer marketplace at all. They hold the book you already have. Zolmi is a half-exception: it lists you free on Belliata, its own marketplace, and publishes no traffic or new-client figures for it, so there is nothing there to weigh.
Five run one with reach you can check: StyleSeat, Booksy, Fresha, Mindbody and Vagaro. Compare what a new client costs on each. Booksy’s Boost takes 30% of a Boost client’s first visit with no cap. Fresha takes 20% one-time with no cap, and its published $6 is a floor, not a ceiling. StyleSeat takes 30% too — but it stops at $50, once per client, and never again.
That first appointment looks like this: a $90 service, a $27 fee and an $18 tip, so you take home $81 that day, assuming a 20% tip. Every appointment after that carries no new-client fee, and on a $250 service the cap does the work: the fee stops at $50 rather than $75.
Feature for feature, they are built for two different businesses
Put the two menus side by side and the split is not subtle. Zolmi is salon-floor software — stock counts, purchase orders, commissions, a cash drawer, rooms and equipment. StyleSeat is a marketplace with a booking calendar attached. Neither list is longer in a way that matters. They are answers to different questions.
One thing to check before you read the rows: several features on Zolmi’s list sit on PRO at $30, not START at $20 — business reporting, stock management, the Google Review Booster, marketing and the website builder. START caps stock at 10 products.

Read the two columns and you can more or less see the business each one was drawn for. Zolmi’s is a room with a front desk, a stockroom and people on the schedule; for that business the PRO list is doing real work and $30 is cheap for it. StyleSeat’s has a comprehensive platform built for professionals and small salons
When Zolmi is the right call
If your book is genuinely full and you are open to spending $1 more a month for basic scheduling. A pro with a waitlist and a rebooking rate she is proud of does not need to be sold demand, and $20 is a fair price for a tool that works.
And if you employ a lot of people, neither is your answer. Commission splits, payroll, real inventory with stock levels and multi-location management are not what StyleSeat does — Mangomint, Boulevard, Zenoti, Meevo and Phorest specialize in that and are good at it. Staff calendars are supported on StyleSeat at no extra cost, and small salons with a receptionist can share calendars, in beta.
How this works on StyleSeat
New Client Connection sends you requests from people who found you in the marketplace and have never booked you. You have 24 hours to accept or decline — less if the appointment is sooner, so answer fast. The fee is charged after the service, on the service cost only, never on the tip. You can turn it off whenever you want.
The texting you would be metering elsewhere is inside the $35 (on promotion for $19/month), with email marketing, client reminders, the automated booking assistant, business analytics, promotions, the Loyalty Program, the AI Social Post Builder and review management. The trial is 21 days, and booking, New Client Connection and Smart Pricing fees are waived. Here is how StyleSeat powers your business.
Questions pros ask
How much does Zolmi cost?
Zolmi publishes START at $20 a month and PRO at $30 for one staff member, plus $3 or $5 a month per extra staff, with a free option referenced as well. Text messages are billed separately from about $0.02 each, and the card processing rate is not published. Those are US figures; country storefronts differ.
Is the cheaper software actually worth it?
It depends on whether your calendar is full. Choosing $20 over $35 saves $180 a year. If your ticket is $90 and a regular sees you nine times a year, that is about $810 in services, so the saving is worth less than a quarter of one client. Full book: take the $180. Empty Tuesdays: the $180 is the wrong thing to optimize.
Which Zolmi alternatives can actually bring me new clients?
Only the ones running a consumer marketplace with reach you can check: StyleSeat, Booksy, Fresha, Mindbody and Vagaro. DaySmart, Meevo, Phorest, Rosy, Zenoti and Mangomint run none; Zolmi lists you free on its own Belliata marketplace but publishes no traffic or new-client figures for it. StyleSeat spends millions a year in ads on pros’ behalf; Top Pros using New Client Connection average 120+ new clients a year.
What does StyleSeat cost compared to Zolmi?
StyleSeat is $35 a month, currently running a promotion at $19, against Zolmi’s $20 START and $30 PRO, and text marketing and reminders are included rather than metered. Card-present processing is 2.5% + $0.30. New Client Connection is 30% of a new client’s first service, capped at $50, once per that client ever, and clients pay a $2.35 booking fee, not you. The full breakdown is in the help center.
Cheap is not the enemy. An empty Tuesday is. If your book is full, buy the $20 calendar with a clear conscience — and if it is not, $180 a year was never the number that would change your year. StyleSeat is $35 a month, $19 while the promotion runs, and the first 21 days are free — the pricing page lists every fee next to it.
