It was the thing the salon already had. Somebody trained you on it in twenty minutes between clients, and you never looked again.

Then you went out on your own, and the job changed underneath you. The calendar still works. What does not work is Tuesday at two, open three weeks now, because there is no front desk and nobody to fill it but you.

That is what is usually underneath a search for Rosy alternatives. Not a broken calendar. An empty one.

If you are shopping Rosy alternatives as a solo pro, the question that decides it is not which calendar is prettier — it is which of these companies can send you a client you did not already have. Rosy starts at $29 a month with its RosyPay discount and runs no consumer marketplace. StyleSeat is $35 a month (on promotion for $19/month), spends millions a year in ads on pros’ behalf, and draws 74M+ visits a year from 2M+ clients actively searching.

Short version

Rosy is $29 a month at its base price with the RosyPay discount, stepping up by employee count. Its card processing rate is not published until after you subscribe.

Rosy has no consumer marketplace. Reserve with Google puts a Book button beside a search for your name — it does not introduce you to someone who has never heard it.

At Rosy, email marketing, mass email and enhanced SMS are paid add-ons. At StyleSeat they are inside the $35.

StyleSeat charges 30% of a new client’s first service, capped at $50, once per that client ever. Top Pros using New Client Connection average $9,800 a year in new-client revenue and 120+ new clients a year.

Rosy is $29 a month, and the add-ons are where the number moves

Rosy’s published starting price is $29 a month with the RosyPay discount, for a single operator. Above that it scales by employee count, in bands for two, three, and four-or-more. Those higher figures did not render cleanly on the pricing page when we checked, so we are not quoting them — ask Rosy directly rather than trusting a number a comparison site guessed.

Rosy also does not publish a card processing rate, so what a $2,000 week really costs you there is not something you can work out from outside. And the marketing tools most solo pros want sit outside the base price as add-ons. The sticker price and the real price are two different numbers, and only one is on the page.

The Rosy alternatives that matter are the ones with a marketplace

Rosy, DaySmart, Meevo, Phorest, Zenoti, Zolmi and Mangomint all run no consumer marketplace. They are built for a business that already has demand walking in. If your chair is full and your admin is the mess, that is a fine thing to buy.

If your chair is not full, none of them can help, because none has an audience to introduce you to. Mindbody, Vagaro, Booksy, Fresha and StyleSeat do — and there, compare what a new client costs. Booksy’s Boost takes 30% of a Boost client’s first visit with no cap. Fresha takes 20% one-time with no cap, and the $6-per-client figure it publishes is a floor, not a ceiling. StyleSeat takes 30% too, but it stops at $50, once per client, and never again.

What you pay

Rosy Salon Software

StyleSeat

Subscription

$29/month base with the RosyPay discount; scales by staff count

$35/month, currently running a promotion at $19

Card processing

Not published until after you subscribe

2.5% + $0.30 card present; 2.6% + $0.30 card on file

Consumer marketplace

None — Reserve with Google only

Yes — 74M+ visits a year, 2M+ clients searching

Email and text marketing

Paid add-ons

Included in the base price

New-client fee

None — no marketplace to charge one for

30% of the first service, capped at $50, once per client, ever

Client booking fee

None

$2.35, paid by the client

Rosy from rosysalonsoftware.com/pricing, modified June 8, 2026; StyleSeat from its own pricing and help center. Verified August 31, 2026.

Run your own cost-per-client number instead of comparing subscriptions

The gap between $29 and $35 is $6 a month, and one client covers it several times over. What decides your year is what a new client costs to get and what she is worth once she stays. Take your average ticket, multiply by how many times a year a regular sees you, and set the acquisition cost beside it.

Say you charge $90 and a regular comes every six weeks — about nine visits, roughly $810 a year in services. A new client from the StyleSeat marketplace costs 30% of that first service: $90 in services, a $27 fee and an $18 tip, so you take home $81 that day, assuming a 20% tip. Every appointment after that carries no new-client fee. You paid $27, once, for a client worth $810 a year if she stays.

On a bigger ticket the cap does the work. A $600 balayage costs $50, not $180: $600 in services, a $50 fee, a $120 tip, so you take home $670, assuming a 20% tip.

No software can do what you do

There is a version of this decision that is entirely a spreadsheet, and it misses what your Tuesday is.

You know which client needs the room quiet and which one wants to tell you everything. You know the woman in the 10am has been growing out a bad box dye for fourteen months, and that the day she finally sees her own color in the mirror is a day she will remember. You built that skill over years, while also becoming the receptionist, the marketer and the bookkeeper. Software cannot do the first part. It can stop taking time from it — the reminder texts, the rebooking nudge, the waitlist offer when noon opens up. After demand, that is the question: which platform gives you back the most Tuesday.

Where Rosy and the bigger systems are the better answer

If you employ people, StyleSeat is not the right tool, and you should know that before you switch. Commission splits, payroll, real inventory with stock levels are not what it does. Mangomint, Boulevard, Zenoti, Meevo and Phorest specialize in exactly that, and they are good at it.

Rosy’s own pricing tells you who it is for: it steps up as you add employees. StyleSeat is built for the pro who is the whole business, and for small salons. Staff calendars are supported today at no extra cost, and small salons with a receptionist can share calendars, in beta — but if your problem is payroll, go where payroll lives.

How this works on StyleSeat

New Client Connection sends you booking requests from people who found you in the marketplace and have never been to you. You have 24 hours to accept or decline — less if the appointment is sooner, so answer fast. The fee is charged after the service, on the service cost only, never on the tip. You can turn it off whenever you want.

The marketing is already in the $35: email and text marketing, client reminders, the automated booking assistant, business analytics, promotions, the Loyalty Program, the AI Social Post Builder and review management. The trial is 21 days, and booking, New Client Connection and Smart Pricing fees are waived throughout. Here is how StyleSeat powers your business.

Questions pros ask

How much does Rosy Salon Software cost?

Rosy publishes a base price of $29 a month with its RosyPay discount for a single operator, scaling by employee count in bands for two, three and four-or-more staff. Rosy does not publish a card processing rate, and email marketing, mass email and enhanced SMS are paid add-ons.

Which Rosy alternatives can actually bring me new clients?

Only the ones that run a consumer marketplace: StyleSeat, Booksy, Fresha, Mindbody and Vagaro. Rosy, DaySmart, Meevo, Phorest, Zenoti, Zolmi and Mangomint run none, so they cannot introduce you to someone who has never heard your name. StyleSeat spends millions a year in ads on pros’ behalf.

What does StyleSeat cost a solo pro?

$35 a month, currently running a promotion at $19. Card present processing is 2.5% + $0.30. New Client Connection is 30% of a new client’s first service, capped at $50, once per that client and never again. Clients pay a $2.35 booking fee, not you. The full cost breakdown is in the help center.

The calendar you have is probably fine. The real question is whether anything you pay for is out working while you are at your chair — and $9,800 a year in new-client revenue is what that looks like for Top Pros using New Client Connection. It is $35 a month, $19 while the promotion is on, and the first 21 days are free — the pricing page has the whole fee list.

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"FAQPage","mainEntity":[
{"@type":"Question","name":"How much does Rosy Salon Software cost?","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"Rosy publishes a base price of $29 a month with its RosyPay discount for a single operator, scaling by employee count in bands for two, three and four-or-more staff.
