During his visit to the StyleSeat HQ, Alin shared his secret to mastering those edgy \u201clived in\u201d waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alin explains the \u201clived in\u201d look as, \u201clooking a little undone, like your hair hasn\u2019t been freshly cut or styled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prep this look, Alin used a paddle brush to smooth out the hair. \u201cDon\u2019t overdo it,\u201d he says. \u201cYou want it to look natural.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b><strong>Alin\u2019s Product of choice:<\/strong><\/b>&nbsp;Kevin Murphy&#8217;s \u201cDoo Over\u201d texturizing dry shampoo to help protect the hair and give it a slight hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b><strong>Alin\u2019s Tool of Choice:<\/strong><\/b>&nbsp;ghd Curve &#8211; similar to a curling wand with a flatter surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.styleseat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/wd9a1892.jpg__5760x3840_q85_crop_subsampling-2_upscale.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-646\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE PROCESS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Work in two inch sections at a diagonal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Use the wand at medium heat. High heat will make the waves look too polished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Hold the wand at a diagonal and wrap the hair around in an \u201cS\u201d shape for a loose finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; They key is to alternate the direction of the \u201cS\u201d for each section of hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.styleseat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/wd9a1922.jpg__5760x3840_q85_crop_subsampling-2_upscale.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-647\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRO TIPS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cA common mistake is over ironing every piece and spending too much time to get a perfect shape. It\u2019s ok if a couple pieces fall out because we are going to intentionally mess it up and shake it out at the end.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cPeople make the mistake of wrapping hair really tightly around the wand in a circular motion instead of an \u201cS.\u201d Doing this will create a ringlet effect rather than something more loose and modern like you are going for.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes are great. You can learn from them immediately and they will help you grow.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Once you are finished with your waves, it\u2019s time to go to town with your dry shampoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; There are a few ways you can finish this look:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditionally, you would finish with some dry shampoo and hairspray, run your hands through it a little bit and you\u2019re finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want an even more&nbsp;natural look, the more you run your hands through it, the more you distress it, the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI use dry shampoo and then hit it with a blow dryer.
